How Long It Takes
A straight swap on a standard 16-foot double opening, done from a truck out of Colorado Springs, is usually a one-visit job - most of the day is drive time and setup, not the install itself. Custom widths, insulated glass-panel doors, or anything needing header work because the opening was framed non-standard run longer, and if a special-order panel has to come in, that adds lead time before we're even on site. We'll give you a real number once we've measured the opening and know what door you're after, not before.
Parts We Carry
For the kind of doors common on newer Monument builds - 16-foot insulated steel doubles and 8 or 9-foot steel singles - we stock standard torsion springs sized for those door weights, nylon and steel rollers, galvanized cable, and standard lift and jamb hardware on the truck. Openers for these newer, wider doors need a stronger drive than an old single-car door ever did, and we carry chain and belt-drive units rated for double-door weight. What we don't carry on the truck: specialty glass-panel inserts, custom wood-clad doors, or anything built to a non-standard width - those are special order, and we'll tell you that up front rather than promise a same-visit fix that isn't possible.
How We Fix It
We measure the opening, confirm the header and track clearance, and size the spring and drum to the actual door weight rather than assume a standard spec fits - newer Monument builds vary more in opening width than the older, more uniform tract housing elsewhere in the service area. We pull the old door and track, set new jambs if the old ones are out of square, install the door and balance the spring so it holds at half-open with no assist, then mount and program the opener. On a double door this size we test the auto-reverse and force settings before we leave, since a heavier insulated panel needs those set tighter than a light single-car door ever did.
What It Costs
We don't quote a number without seeing the door and the opening - width, insulation, glass panels, and opener choice all move the price, and a 16-foot insulated double runs a different cost than an 8-foot single regardless of town. What we can tell you is that the trip from Colorado Springs is built into the estimate, not added as a surprise line item, and we'll give you the total before any work starts.
